Homes in the community of Morne Lazarre in Pétion-Ville either collapsed or were damaged beyond repair, leaving hundreds dead. Survivors moved in with relatives or into one the hundreds of tent cities that sprang up throughout the capital, Port au Prince, following the earthquake.
